Our director Sado Jirde has been invited to contribute to the fourth UWE BME Conference this year, which focuses on the theme of Community engagement and partnership. This conference is a one day event celebrating and sharing a year of work undertaken across the university.
The value of higher education is currently the focus of intense public debate with more fundamental questions. The focus of this conference is to look at community engagement and partnership working in order to enhance the BME student journey. Challenging and demystifying the notion that extracurricular is less important than intera-curricular activity.
The conference will cover topics such as;
- Internationalisation and working to develop international partnerships
- Engaging BME communities with Health initiatives and campaigns
- The impact of role models in the student experience
- Working with BME students and students from WP background - when is the right time to start?
