Shifting Gears Project and Workshop

BSWN in partnership with Voice 4 Change England would like to invite you to our workshop as a follow up from the recent Roundtable discussions to explore the role social investment could play as an alternative source of funds in an ever-decreasing public sector investment environment. In addition, we know from our work & research that lack of finance is the no1 barrier to enterprise development by BAME sector both private & social purpose, followed by information and networking opportunities.

The broader aims of the workshop are to explore:

  • whether social investment offers an alternative way to resource your organisation/idea/project,

  • challenges, opportunities and needs of BAME businesses & social enterprises from recent research findings

  • opportunity to network with likeminded organisations & individuals

Outcomes we are looking for from the event:

  • Raise the awareness of social investment within the SW BME sector

  • Increase the pool of BME VCSEs interested in social investment and alternative sources of funding

  • To identify those that participated in the Voice 4 Change and BSWN survey who want to take their interest in social investment further.

The workshop is open to BAME organisations in the broadest sense and local policy & decision makers. However, the target audience is BAME enterprises/social enterprises - established and start-ups.

Light refreshments will be provided on the day. To book your place at the workshop, please see our Eventbrite page here.
