Black South West Network (BSWN) is seeking a visionary Senior Curator and Programme Development Manager to lead the delivery of The UnMuseum – Collecting, Preserving and Sharing Stories of Black Identity and Belonging in the South West project.
Backed by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, this ground-breaking three-year initiative is centred on a decolonial approach to cultural heritage, one that shifts power, centres Black communities, and reimagines how stories are gathered, preserved, and shared.
About the Role
As Senior Curator and Programme Development Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational delivery of the UnMuseum project. You’ll work collaboratively with artists, communities, and institutions across the region to:
Curate a digital and physical archive rooted in lived experience
Deliver a high-impact festival and touring programme
Support community-led archiving and heritage practice
Build infrastructure and skills among Black-led cultural heritage groups
Embed radical community ownership into every stage of collecting and curation
You will also lead a small and committed Cultural Heritage team, oversee governance structures, and ensure the project remains rooted in BSWN’s racial justice mission.

About the Role
As Community Curator, you will be the bridge between communities and the project, working closely with people across the South West to co-design and deliver participatory events, collecting activities, and capacity-building workshops. You’ll support community-led heritage practice by:
Establishing and working alongside a Regional Project Steering Group
Supporting around seven commissioned cultural heritage projects across the region
Co-designing and co-delivering a sub-regional mapping and collecting programme
Collaborating with the Digital Archivist to digitise and preserve collected material
Helping shape the final regional festival and celebration event
This is a practical, people-centred role that combines curatorial thinking, deep listening, and hands-on delivery. You’ll be part of a small, supportive team working with care, creativity, and integrity.

This role is for someone who is passionate about community-led cultural work and who brings experience of co-production, heritage interpretation, and public-facing events. You’ll be a confident collaborator with strong organisational skills, and a deep understanding of how cultural heritage can support empowerment, healing, and collective memory.

Black South West Network (BSWN) is recruiting a Digital Archivist to lead the technical delivery of the digital platform and archive for The UnMuseum – Collecting, Preserving and Sharing Stories of Black Identity and Belonging in the South West project.
Funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the UnMuseum is a bold, three-year initiative rooted in decolonial practice, community ownership, and digital innovation. The project centres Black and Racially Minoritised communities as decision-makers in how cultural heritage is identified, digitised, and made accessible.
About the Role
As Digital Archivist, you will be responsible for the design, commissioning, and delivery of a digital archive platform co-produced with community members and technical specialists. Working closely with the Community Curator, Senior Curator, and wider team, you’ll:
Lead the development of an interactive, accessible digital platform
Design and facilitate co-production workshops and prototype testing
Manage the digitisation and archiving of community-collected materials
Ensure data security, metadata integrity, and long-term preservation
Embed ethical, anti-colonial archiving practices across the project
You’ll also contribute to the development of a regional festival and deliver participatory events across the South West that digitise and preserve cultural heritage currently at risk.
Who We’re Looking For
You’ll bring experience in digital archiving and project management, alongside a commitment to heritage justice and community ownership. You should have strong technical skills, an understanding of open-source tools and metadata standards, and the ability to work with care and clarity across a diverse set of partners and stakeholders.

Black South West Network (BSWN) is seeking a creative and community-rooted Digital Content Creator to help tell the story of The UnMuseum – Collecting, Preserving and Sharing Stories of Black Identity and Belonging in the South West project.
This three-year, National Lottery Heritage Fund–backed initiative reimagines cultural heritage through a decolonial lens. It centres Black and Racially Minoritised communities as custodians of their own histories, identities, and archives, both physical and digital.
About the Role
As Digital Content Creator, you’ll be responsible for producing engaging multimedia content that documents the project, uplifts community voices, and brings the UnMuseum’s vision to life across platforms. You’ll work with the Cultural Heritage Team to:
Record and edit audio and video content, including podcasts, interviews, and event footage
Photograph community events, exhibitions, and workshops
Collaborate on web and social media content to grow public engagement
Maintain and organise a structured digital archive of all media assets
Co-create content with community members, curators, and archivists
Support digital storytelling for the final regional festival and archive platform
You’ll ensure that digital content is vibrant, accessible, and representative of the project’s values of care, justice, and community ownership.
Who We’re Looking For
You’re someone with strong media production skills, a passion for community-centred storytelling, and an interest in digital heritage. You should be comfortable working with audio and video tools, social media platforms, and web content systems, and be able to collaborate confidently across diverse communities and teams.
