UnMuseum Recruitment
We are recruiting for several roles for our exciting UnMuseum project, a platform for Black and Racially Minoritised communities across the South West of England to explore and express their own heritage, histories, and identities, in their own words, on their own terms, and through their own cultural expressions, made possible by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
About Us
BSWN is a racial justice charity with over 20 years of work in the South West. We are transforming The Coach House in Bristol into a regional centre for Black enterprise and cultural heritage, this project will be its digital heartbeat.
The UnMuseum isn’t just an archive or an exhibition. It’s a living, evolving space of resistance, care, and imagination. If you’re excited about using digital tools to shift power and preserve culture in radically new ways, we want to hear from you.

Developer for the UnMuseum Digital Platform
Black South West Network (BSWN) has been awarded funding by the National Lottery Heritage Fund to deliver the Collecting, Preserving and Sharing Stories of Black Identity and Belonging in the South West project. As part of this initiative, BSWN is developing the UnMuseum digital platform to digitally preserve and engage communities with the cultural heritage of racially minoritised groups in the Southwest. The Developer will build, secure, and maintain this platform, creating an interactive and accessible space for cultural archiving, educational engagement, and community interaction.
This brief should be read alongside the Summary Interpretative Plan, which outlines the conceptual and curatorial ambitions of the UnMuseum. The platform must reflect the project's interpretive goals, including co-production, distributed agency, and relational engagement.
How to Apply
You will need to submit a proposal which should include:
Technical approach
Timeline and milestones
Budget breakdown
Community engagement strategy
References and portfolio
Deadline for proposals: Wednesday 28th January 2026 at 12.00pm
Proposals should be emailed to: Mina Drobna, Operations Director, on mina@bswn.org.uk
Heritage Evaluation Consultant
During the Development Phase of the project, BSWN employed a team of Evaluation Consultants to develop a comprehensive Evaluation Framework (see attached). This started with the creation of an evaluation logic model, that explored needs and wants, objectives, required inputs and outputs, and project outcomes across the domains of Places – where the articulation and curation of Black cultural heritage happens, Structures - what enables, nurtures and connects the articulation and curation of Black cultural heritage across South West, and Essences – what the articulation and curation of cultural heritage means to Black communities in the South West.
The bidders against this tender are expected to propose a detailed methodology and approach to the evaluation that may include further development of the indicators, measures, and tools. However, it is anticipated that aspects of this work will involve exploring the approaches, tools, and resources provided through Inspiring Learning For All and Our Museum projects through the Arts Council and Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
A proposal for undertaking the work should include:
A keynote statement regarding the Consultant’s understanding of the specific issues and considerations around the ownership, management, curation, and archiving of the cultural heritage of historically marginalised and excluded communities.
A detailed statement of how the project will be approached highlighting significant issues which will need to be addressed as part of the project.
A detailed description of the Consultant’s previous experience on comparable pieces of work including evidence of relevant experience in evaluation of NLHF funded projects and/or understanding of the NLHF investment principles.
A detailed methodology/approach for undertaking the work.
A timescale for example, in the form of a Gantt chart, for carrying out the project
CVs of the key personnel who will be involved with the project
The daily charging rate of individual staff involved
An overall cost for the work inclusive of VAT
Deadline for proposals: Wednesday 28th January 2026 at 12.00pm
