Projects and Programmes

What projects and programmes do we deliver?

BSWN Programmes are designed to contribute to our mission - to support the development of dynamic, independent, and strong Black and Minoritised communities, businesses, and organisations in the South West that navigate daily racial inequalities. Our Research programme helps reveal the root causes and barriers to accessing opportunities and informs our understanding of the local and regional needs so we can design and improve our projects to catalyse change and have a tangible impact.

Our Business & Enterprise, Culture & Heritage, and Sector Development programmes facilitate learning to enable the growth and development of businesses, social entrepreneurs, organisations, and community leaders locally in Bristol and in the South West of England. Find out more about our current projects below.

Business and Enterprise

BSWN Enterprise support was formed to support Black and Minoritised founders and wealth creators and unlock their ambitions to drive and increase economic growth across the South West region.

We provide expert advice, personal and business development coaching, mentoring, focused programmes, peer-to-peer learning, and expert-led workshops. We create opportunities for you to engage with new knowledge transfer networks and find the best financial pathways for your business. Our team is here to support the aspirations for your business to start, thrive, innovate, and grow.

Starting a business or choosing to grow your business can be scary. We believe it doesn’t need to be that way. BSWN enterprise support will give you the confidence, knowledge, and networks to achieve your aspirations, maximise potential and deliver success.

Culture and Heritage

BSWN’s strategic aim of our Cultural Heritage Programme is to impact a range of racial justice measures through culture and heritage work. In this programme, we are continuing the development work of our Intangible Cultural Heritage project to define and establish a physical and digital (Un)Museum of Black Culture and Heritage and this longstanding strand of work is now bearing fruit with the development of dedicated spaces within The Coach House. This work is overseen by a broad group of stakeholders from across the country and from within the Black and Minoritised Culture and Heritage sector to add their ideas and professional and academic knowledge to further inform the theoretical and practical development of the (Un)Museum project.

Community Sector Development

Following on from the work that had been done over the last couple of years, BSWN set up a Community Sector Development team to support Black and Minoritised grassroots community groups and organisations to have better access to information and support, greater involvement in shaping local services, to create positive changes in their communities, to achieve their full potential and to become sustainable for the future.
