BSWN has signed a lease with Bristol City Council for the Coach House in St Paul’s, an asset of much community value, history, and respect. The historic building is in the heart of Bristol’s African Heritage community and will become the focal point for BSWN’s work on economic development and cultural inclusion.

We are delighted to have secured The Coach House, as a very special asset for the community. We are developing exciting plans to refurbish the building and transform it into a unique and dynamic social innovation hub.
— Sado Jirde, Director of BSWN

BSWN plans for The Coach House to be a transformative space of community building in which enterprise development, cultural expression, and community wealth building will work in hand to cross-pollinate concepts, ideas and solutions to the issues affecting the community. It will be an innovation lab, business incubator, and cultural centre, and a space that is alive with the cultural heritage of Bristol’s African and Asian communities. The space will give rise to key projects but more importantly, be a platform for new ways of achieving sustainable community development and wealth creation.

BSWN will now embark on an ambitious strategy to raise £3 million in capital investment to realise this vision. In the meantime, the organisation, which was established 2007, will continue to run The Coach House as offices and meeting rooms for existing tenants. It will also continue to deliver its targeted innovative enterprise development programmes. These include the first Black led social enterprise incubator in the city funded by the Local Access Partnership Programme.
